Sea Turtles have existed in their current form since the time of the dinosaurs. Unlike their land relatives, they cannot duck into their shells, making them vulnerable. This is also why many species are considered endangered. The gender of sea turtles is determined by the temperature of the nesting sand, with warmer sand producing  females.
